Fairbanks Community Attractions
During the summer, the Fairbanks community puts on the Tanana Fair and the Midnight Sun Festivals. During these events, music, food, and fun can be enjoyed all night long under summer's soft arctic sun. Midnight Sun Baseball, the Midnight Sun Run, and the Midnight Sun Intertribal Pow Wow are a few popular Midnight Sun festivities.
Winter days also bring fun and entertainment to Fairbanks. Fairbanks is home to World Ice Art where ice sculptors from around the world participate in ice sculpting competitions. The Yukon Quest, another popular winter activity, is an international dog sled race between Fairbanks, Alaska and Whitehorse, Yukon Territory in Canada. This two week event follows historic dog sledding routes used during the historic Gold Rush period.
Throughout the year, Fairbanks’ residents enjoy Fairbanks Folk Fests, the Davis Concert Hall, the Museum of Alaska Native artifacts, and many productions put on by: Fairbanks Children’s Theatre, Fairbanks Light Opera Theatre, Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre, Fairbanks Symphony, Theatre UAF, and Yates & Company Performing Arts Center.
