Winter is almost here again in Alaska, which also means the holidays are right around the corner! There is no better place to spend the holiday season than in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Eagle River, Palmer and especially North Pole. Skinny Raven Turkey Trot

The annual Turkey Trot race is perfect to participate in before your Thanksgiving dinner. This year, the 5K and 3K have new loops and both start and finish inside the Dena'ina Civic Center to help you keep warm. The 5K begins at 11 AM and the 3K at 11:10 AM with awards given for the best times in each age group.Â
Holiday Tree Lighting

The downtown Anchorage holiday tree lighting will take place the day after Thanksgiving at 6 PM. Residents of Anchorage and guests alike will enjoy free cookies, hot cocoa, holiday music, the Dancing Tree, a meet and greet with Santa and his reindeer at 6:30 and the lighting of the AT&T Holiday Tree.Â
