How to Have the Best Looking Home in Fairbanks, Anchorage Alaska

While we do live in Alaska, having a home everyone envies year-round is possible! Most may think it is only in the spring and summer months that homes in Fairbanks and Anchorage are allowed to shine, but winter can actually enhance your home with the right improvements.

It's also less expensive than you think— simply painting your home, either interior or exterior, a brighter color and adding more lighting can push away the winter blues. Alaska is a beautiful place to call home and with these tips your property can be the best looking on the block, no matter the season!

In the Winter

Add bark, berries or seeds
Your winter yard may be looking like a snow-covered wonderland right now, so why not break it up? Add evergreens or other trees with unusual bark and shapes to bring an interest to your yard. A great way to boost curb appeal and draw eyes to your home in Eagle River, Palmer, Wasilla, or North Pole.

Brighten the paint color
Long, cold winter days can get you down, but sometimes all you need is a fresh coat of paint! When it comes to the winter months, a bright paint color can be what stands out in a sea of snow. If you're due for a full-exterior paint job, choose a pop of color or at the very least, give the front door a makeover.

Add more lighting
We're no strangers to the shorter days of the winter. To create a warm, welcoming home after dark, bring in additional lighting for your yard. You can use uplighting for trees, walkway lights for your pathways and new fixtures for your porch or stoop. Most of the time you can install these yourself without breaking the bank.

In the Spring and Summer

Spring cleaning
Making your home the envy of the neighbors is part home improvement and part clean-up and de-cluttering. Take the time to undo the damage of winter on your landscaping by trimming and mulching, even adding new plants and flowers. It's also important to rid your Alaskan home of months of dirt, snow and ice— cleaning your windows costs virtually nothing and makes a big impact!

Add charm to the exterior
The warmer months are busy for the real estate market and homebuyers on the move, so pay attention to your home's exterior. Add new house numbers and replace those standard, outdated numerals currently on your home's facade. You can also upgrade your walkway to make the property fun to come home to— if you have cracked cement or faulty pavers, spring and summer are the times of year to take on the project.

Madden Real Estate is happy to provide suggestions for home sellers sprucing properties for a sale this year. From easy, inexpensive repairs to small-scale renovations, we can share what homebuyers are looking for now and what will be on their wish lists in the coming months.

We look forward to hearing from you!
