Christmas in July— Madden Real Estate Introduces You to North Pole, Alaska
You've heard of Christmas in July, but what about celebrating Christmas all year long? That's what you can expect in North Pole, Alaska. We have an office located in North Pole and this growing community is just one of many idyllic destinations in this great state that the Alaskan homebuyer dreams of calling home.
North Pole is a small community located just 15 minutes south of the state's second largest city, Fairbanks. It's a city that draws numerous tourists year-round for its dedicated to the Christmas spirit— simply driving through North Pole, you will notice decorations, street names and even light poles that reflect this cheery state of mind. There's even a Santa Claus Lane!
The city indeed comes alive during the holiday season, with the annual North Pole Christmas in Ice Contest in December that attracts ice sculptors from around the world, but the summer months can be equally as fun to explore. Below are a few attractions both Alaskan visitors and residents of North Pole can enjoy this summer and throughout the year:
Chena Lake Recreation Area
While visiting the Fairbanks area, Chena Lake is a popular locale. With over 80 campsites, swimming beach, paved bike trails and canoe rentals, Chena Lake Recreation Area offers a tranquil Alaskan getaway. The lake itself can be fished for arctic char, grayling and rainbow trout, while two full-service campgrounds and tent sites can be found in nearby North Pole Park.
Cruising with Santa Festival
In August, classic cars will take over North Pole for the Cruising with Santa Festival. Vintage cars, street hot rods and other prized autos will be on display, in addition to the drive-in movies, street dances and live entertainment that will be offered.
Totem Pole and Homestead Cabin
Just outside of North Pole is the town's totem pole and a replica of a homesteader's cabin. Visitors and Alaskan residents alike can indulge in the history of the community with these two attractions as well as take the opportunity to trek Beaver Spring Nature Trail, a half-mile path located near City Hall that winds through a conifer forest into North Pole Park.
Terry Miller Memorial Park
If a day exploring Alaska is what you're looking for this summer, then you might like to add Terry Miller Memorial Park to your list. The park is located on Santa Claus Lane and features a picnic area, kids playground and close-up view of the Alaska Railroad as it passes by several times per day.
Alaska has a wealth of resources for enjoying relaxed, yet eventful summer and winter seasons. No matter what time of year, there is an attraction for everyone and chance to marvel at the state's great beauty. If you're ready to call the communities of North Pole, Palmer, Eagle River, Fairbanks, or Anchorage your home, Madden Real Estate is here to help!
